Hello

When I go to type in an address in the address window, autocomplete kicks in
and offers a whole hosts of stuff not connected to web addresses.

If I type in "a" for example, it suggests my avi editing programs.

How do I switch this off, so it will only offer web addresses?

TIA

Ewan

Ewan,
If you access other files or applications from within IE, they will end up
in the various autocomplete lists.

Try clearing the History from IE> Tools> Internet Options> General to get a
clean start, then make sure you aren't accessing these other files, etc from
an IE window.

The Address Bar of Windows Explorer might be "sharing" searches, filenames
or program names with IE. (?)

Hope this helps,
Don

I found this info/patch on HP web site and it seems to be
working.

Autocomplete does not work in Windows XP

After installing Service Pack 1, Internet Explorer no
longer displays complete text for the first few letters
you type when typing on Web pages. HP has made a patch
available to address this issue. Go to the Patch Download
Page and follow the instructions to download and install
the patch.
