Student Project Problems

My daughter and her friend are in the final year of an economics degree
course, and chose a module on database use. They were told previous
experience was not necessary. However they have found the course assumes
considerable experience is required, and they are struggling. The tutor
"does not have time" to help them! He is the same guy who will mark their
degree papers in a few weeks time. Is there anyone out there who could lend
a hand? They have to build an Access database, assumming a business has a
number of employees with different annual leave allowances, and have to
query the data base for various info. Annoyingly the lecturer has said it
would only take him 10 mins to complete this exercise. The girls have been
struggling for two weeks.
Any help gratefully received.

Did the professor give them a database loaded with sample data, or do they
have to design that, too? If yes, then it's probably a simple matter of
designing queries to solve the problems posed.

In general, MVPs who help out in these newsgroups will not provide a
specific answer to questions that are obviously posted by students who are
trying to get us to do their homework. But we will try to give them the
information they need to solve the problem on their own. (If we do the
work, the student doesn't learn anything.)

Feel free to post more details about some of the problems, and we'll try to
help out.

That's great. They don't want someone to do it for them. They just need some
cramming on Access. I will get her to enter this group later today. Thanks.
