can't quite figure this out. I'm running IE 6 and it's stuck in Times
New Roman. Any site, nomatter what its formatting, is displayed in
Times New Roman...can anyone explain how I might go back to using the
specific font for the specific site. Cheers. TIA.
Hi Couscous,
Try this go to the IE Properties and on the General Tab click font and in
the Font settings Window check that these settings there:
Language Script : Latin based
Web page Font : Times New Roman
Plain Text Font : Courier New and click OK to confirm the settings
Click Ok to close and Reboot and see if the issue will resolve.
If no Joy here some similar issue like yours solved in different way:

I found the problem...it had nothing to do with IE.
After looking at the webpages that were displaying italics closer I noticed
that they were all set Arial on the font..so the problem was Windows was
substituting something else for the font that should be displayed..basic
Arial.
I changed the entries here:
HKLM/software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/FontSubstitutes/
To match my other machine for the Arial fonts, and all is well.

I have fixed my problem (well, my boyfriend did!) The basic arial trutype
font was completely deleted from my font file hence getting arial only in
italics or bold so we just copied it from his computer into my font file and
now everything is back to normal
Hope this helps
