I've uploaded a music sample in wma format. I expected it to stream, but
when checking it on a dial-up connection, it's obviously downloading the
full file before opening the WM player. Any suggestions on what I'm doing
wrong and how I fix it? Thanks. www.ricefields.org/homeaway.wma

DI - Thanks for the prompt response. I'm afraid I did a bad job of asking
the question. I don't think I want to embed the player. I also do not want
to play the file automatically. The .WMA file will be linked into a web
page. When the link is clicked, I want the Windows Media player to open,
begin buffering the file, and begin playing. A better example is
www.ricefields.org/testpage.htm. Currently, the file downloads entirely
before beginning to play. Suggestions? Thanks.

In order to set up Streaming Audio you'll need MP3 formatted audio files
Bitrate for MP3's you desire. Here's how you decide:

bitrate what happens

greater than 56Kbps Not recommended. This bitrate is too high and will cause
skipping in your broadcast.

56 Kbps High quality, but only listeners with high bandwidth can enjoy.

32 Kbps Medium quality, and listeners with 56K modem connection and higher
can listen.

24 Kbps Lowest quality (similar to AM radio), but everyone with 28.8K modem
connection or higher can enjoy.

When you get that done
Import the MP3 file in your web and from your page link to the MP3 file

Convert your wma format to MP3 format
At bitrate:

24 Kbps Lowest quality (similar to AM radio), but everyone with 28.8K modem
connection or higher can enjoy.

or

32 Kbps Medium quality, and listeners with 56K modem connection and higher
can listen.

When you get that done
Import the MP3 file in your web and from your page link to the MP3 file.

The media player will open and play.

The WMA file at ( www.ricefields.org/testpage.htm ) is runing at 128 Kbps
Greater than 56Kbps Not recommended. This bitrate is too high and will cause
down load first.
