I have v9 of Strat baseball. Only 2 of about 15 different game sounds play.
When starting a game I get this error note: Unknown problem while loading
specified driver device.
Game Co. sent me this note:
There are really no changes to the sounds in version 11 that should make it
react any different on your computer. The sound problems are likely based out
of windows since the game really has no internal sound modules, it uses
Windows to run its sounds.
The other possibility from what you describe could be some sort of memory
issue. The sound files are what we are called "overlayed". sounds load and
overlay on top of the game and then on top of each other. So it is very
possible to have a couple of sounds load and then have additional sounds
fail. You may want to try to turn off or close any open or background
programs that could possibly interfering with memory that is coming to the
game. There could be some sort of conflict with another program that is
either open, or maybe running in the background (one of those mini icons you
see on your toolbar)
I've turned off everything in the taskbar with no help. I have XP home
edition with all the latest updates. Dell Dimension 3000 2.4ghz, 512 ram,
SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio with latest drivers.
When I go into the game folder all the sounds play individually in WMP.
I've tried an uninstall/reinstall twice.
So I'm guessing the Company hit the nail on the head with this 'sound
overlayed' matter. No help from Dell community and they want $200 for
warranty renewal. Would rather not pay MS $35 for help because that's the
price of the Version 11 update of the game. Of course, if the problem can't
be fixed with what I have now I don't want the update.
The atmosphere of all the sounds with the game is excellent. They worked on
my old laptop.
Any help here would be most appreciated.
