I am trying to open www.photopoint.com just the same as
any other page on the web. IE tries for a while and then
i get this come up in the address bar.
C:\WINDOWS\wcenststssst.htm
and a page saying it can not be opened. What does the C:\
thing mean? Why does it happen? What can i do? Can
someone try the page for me and tell me if it is my
browser or what. I am not a technical person so please be
simple in your responses. Happy New Year from a very
puzzled person.

I think i know...

somewhere you might have that file in .htm on your
computer, rather than loading it from the net, the
computer says its there so it loads that one.

Unfortunately, maybe that file and website no longer
exists.

Hello,

Photopoint.com is off line for whatever reason (power outage, technical
problem, ...) a this moment .

The wcenststssst.htm bit bothers me more. Do you have such a file? I suspect
that your 404 page has been hijacked. If you are comfortable with the
registry, start REGEDIT and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs. The
NavigationFailure in the right pane should be res://shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm
..

Happy New Year

I can't get to the site. It appears to be offline.
However, the "wcenststssst.htm" makes me stongly suggest:
First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
