Hi,

Recently, I have installed desktop firewall on my desktop and the
firewall log shows that my network is floolded with bootp/dhcp
broadcast traffic.

I find this strange because all our clients PC use only static IP. I
also tried to disable the dhcp client service in my PC, but it still
broadcast bootpc requests to 255.255.255.255.

Any expert can explain that and point our how to fix it ?

Thanks!

Mike.

Are there any printers on the network that could be
sending the BootP traffic looking for a DHCP server?

If you have a PXE-enabled network card, it will broadcast everytime you boot
the computer in attempt to "boot from the network" usually before booting
from floppy or the hard drive. If you have no use for this (ie: you don't
do re-imaging from the network), then just disable it in the bios or change
the boot order to check the floppy or cd first then hard drive then network
card.
Hope this helps.
