My brother has a Dell C510 laptop computer with Windows 2000 installed. When
he was using it recently, he hit a few incorrect keys and messed up his task
bar and also ended up with a strange display. I was able to correct the task
bar, but I am at a loss as to the display problem.
The standard Window color scheme is used, so that all the dispay should be
blue. However, there is a white rectangle on the right of his display, going
from the top of the monitor to the bottom, that one can resize (left to
right or vice versa) to a small sliver. This is apparently a process of some
sort. The properties for that white window are as follows. Only the General
tab is present:
Not Available
Protocol: HyperText Transfer Protocol
Type: Not Available
Connection: Not Encrypted
Address: http://home.verizon.yahoo.com/? + a string of
alphanumerics
Size: Not Available
Created: Not available
Modified: Not available
It has the Certificates button but I don't remember that it listed anything.
My brother uses Verizon DSL so the address above is no doubt connected with
that.
If anyone has any information or words of wisdom about this issue, I'd
appreciate it. We'd primarily like to know how to get rid of this window.
TIA,
Bill
