Here are some strange problems I've been having since I upgraded
from Win 98 to XP Professional:

1. Windows Update no longer works. It just stares at me and does
squat.

2. MS Explorer does not work properly either. It won't do any Java

apps such as clicking on a box, etc.

3. The Windows Help function doesn't work either.

4. In Windows Explorer the search function doesn't work.

5. When I try to run Windows Media Player, it just comes back with
AN INTERNAL APPLICATION ERROR HAS OCCURRED.

I tried using SFC /SCANNOW but that did not do anything.

Done anyone have ANY clues on what to do ?

HELP !!

It looks like Explorer.exe has become corrupted because all the programs you've listed are interconnected to Windows Explorer. You can attempt a repair of the system but that may leave you worse off. I suggest Backing up all of your data and reinstalling Windows. This may seem extream, but it is the only option that will ensure that Windows is completly intact. Also, Do a fresh install of Windows; Format the drive and resintall. You may also want to consider updaing the FAT to NTFS for increased File System Security
