Strange "system failed VGA test" problem K8V SE Deluxe

I have a machine that, if left turned off for a few hours will turn on
with a "system failed VGA test" announcement over the speakers. If I
press reset it boots and operates normally. If I turn off, leave
overnight the problem is back again.

I have read loads of threads and found issues with PSU's so I changed
my 400W unit for a new 400W unit. Same problem.

I then saw issues with PSU's that were too low power i.e. <18A on the
12V. I then changed the PSU for a 500W that has 18A.

So, since the machine does boot, does work I would be surprised to find
a fault with the AGP card (Radeon 9700 Pro) or the mother board.

Any suggestions or ideas on what to do or try.

FYI I don't have a spare AGP card or m'board.

I have had this problem before. I get this announcement everytime I
reboot the machine.
I usually adjust the display card, see if it's tightly fits in, or
whether it is loosely put in. If it is, it is one cause of the problem.
Usually after adjustment , it goes off after reboot.

Have fun.

Hi and thanks for the comments.

I've tried to re-seat it, but still the same problems. I heard
somewhere the board only supports certain voltage cards, and the Radeon
might be one not supported. I'm having trouble finding the exact
details though.

Any othe ideas?
