Windows XP "Home" has become corrupted. File names and
Windows Instructions look like hieroglyphics. I have been
runing McAfee Virus Protection and have scanned the hard
drive. No viruses have been found. I have also run
Chkdsk /f and the drive is said to be okay. Have tried
rebooting with recsue disk but still get the strange
symbols. How do I wipe the drive clean and reformat?

This usually happens when your Tahoma font (the basic font for XP) has been
deleted from your fonts directory. You need to go to another computer or
the web and find a file called TAHOMA.TTF. Copy this to the font folder
(you can find this folder by going to the control panel and looking for a
folder with a green "A" inside of it).
Once you've placed the TAHOMA.TTF font in the font folder you might have to
reboot.
