Strange sounds when copying and pasting.

I've had this problem with two different Windows machines and four differnent
OS installations. When I copy text or a file with the sound on I get a loud
POP! noise. When I paste I get a down-inflected sound that could be descibed
as an electronic scream or howl. This occurs whether or not my Windows Sound
schemes are on. I went so far with my last installation as to delete every
sound file from my C drive, to no avail. I hate this. Any help HUGELY
appreciated.

Thanks,

Put the recorder on the screen, and watch what file is playing.
start/run, type:
sndrec32
Press Alt- Space, then M, then an arrow key, then click the mouse.
Copy something. Try to save the file in sndrec32.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the suggestion, but this doesn't seem related. I put the sound
recorder next to pop up window with your reply and copied "sndrec32." The
POP! happened, but the recorder doesn't appear to be involved in playing it.
In other words, the recorder didn't show any sign of playing the sound.

BTW, these noises are intermittent. For example, when I copied sndrec32 the
POP! happened, but when I paste it here the howling noise doesn't. However I
got the howling noise a few hours ago. These sounds are especially annoying
when you've been listening to music and have the volume up on your speakers.

Thanks again,
~ Blacky

I just closed a pop-up window and was reminded of a third sound I'm getting
that no one seems familiar with. Sometimes (not always), when I close a Web
page, program, email or document, I get a BOING! noise. It just happened when
I closed the window after replying to Mark's advice.
