Strange Shutdown Wallpaper

With XP Home Edition at log off on some occasions there is a brief wallpaper
display that is strange. Many horizontal lines of the same image. This is
very difficult to describe. Something like the Sunday funnies that has the
page that has images that if you get out of focus you can see some picture
in this maize of images. Anyone every see something like this?
 
Yes actually it happens to me. One of my accounts on XP Home shows a
wallpaper applied a very long time ago, for a brief second before reverting
the blue 'logging off...'.
