strange problem with user profiles on new Windows 2000 install

I just got a new motherboard and CPU and reinstalled Windows 2000.

My old installation of Win2K only had two profiles...

Administrator
All Users

(I always logged in as Administrator)

For some reason, Windows has created 4 profiles on this computer...

Administrator
Administrator.DESKTOP1
All Users
All Users.WINNT

(DESKTOP1 is the name of my computer)

When I log in as Administrator, I am actually modifying
Administrator.DESKTOP1's profile in Documents and Settings.

And any software I install that should be modifying the All Users
profile is actually modifying All Users.WINNT.

Why is this happening? Did I screw something up during the install?

If there is some way to fix this, can it be done without reinstalling?

Sounds like you did not do a clean install. To do a clean install, either
boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install
disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk
directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe
(from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Nevermind. I found out what the problem is.

It turns out that if you reinstall Windows 2000 on a partition that
previously had Windows 2000 installed on it without first deleting the
partition and formatting, Windows creates those strange profile names.

I just reinstalled with a partition delete and format and I got the
normal profile names I expected.
