Strange Problem with Outlook 2003 and XP

I have this nagging problem. I have my system set to go
into stand-by after 5 minutes. When the logon screen is
activiated (XP) it shows I have one email waiting for me.

When I go into Outlook, however, there are no unread
emails. I've reviewed every folder, set my view to
unread emails, and there is nothing in the Unread Mail
folder.

Not a major problem but it is driving me a bit crazy.
Any suggestions as to what is happening here and how I
can clear this up?

This is a long shot, but could there possibly be an unread message in the
Outlook Express inbox?

That is a long shot Jocelyn, I had the same problem too which I still
haven't been able to figure out 100%, but have seen that I get this message
shortly after I have already deleted a number of mails and "I think" that
the Outlook still thinks that there is one that needs to be read. I can't
figure it out either. But it doesn't happen that often, maybe once a week or
so; all depending on when I delete messages.

I don't run outlook express at all and never have on the
computer. I had also deleted my deleted items
permanently but that did not seem to fix the problem.

After trying a bunch of diffent things, I finally opened
up every mail folder one at a time (both current and
archived), "select all", and "mark all unread". Even
though I had no emails showing as unread, this seemed to
work since the problem want away about 5 minutes after
competing this task.
