Hello everyone, I hope this is the right newsgroup to ask this question
to. If not, my apologies.

For the past few months I have been having a strange problem with parts
of images staying on monitors. Its like the screen isn't refreshing.
Here is an example of what I mean: Say you go to the File Menu on some
program and select Save. Note that when Save is selected, it is
highlighed in some color (usaully dark blue). Now after I click Save,
the File menu will disappear like normal, but the part where Save is
highlighted on the screen will stay on the screen. The only way to get
it to go away is to reboot the computer. It will cover anything up that
us under it, including Task Manager.

This has problem has shown up on multiple models and brands of monitors
and video cards. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing
this?

This last statement says it all - the problem is in the OS, not the
video card
or monitor. Maybe the OS is mis-using resources or maybe this only happens
after running an ap that consumes much resources. But then I suppose that
*would* be another ng wouldn't it?
Rather than full reboot, just logout of & back into windows (assuming
that
is the OS) - see if it repeats. May need to reload or restore the OS. A
careful
check for nasties may be in order as well.

Could be a virus, could be an old driver that hasn't been completely cleaned
out.

If possible the OP should try a clean install of the OS and the drivers for
whatever board is in the machine and see if the problem repeats.
