Hi folks,
I'm running into a strange problem with my PC hanging (freeze)
apparently when the CPU load drops suddenly from 100% like when exiting
a full load application. I've poked around a little in searches but
found nothing conclusive yet to help me with this problem, I hope
someone here has a pointer to possibly fix this issue.
The system:
AMD Athlon64 clawhammer 3700+ S754 2.4GHz HTT 4x FSB 200
MSI K8N-Neo Platinum mainboard, latest release BIOS
(Onboard NIC, Firewire, Sound disabled in BIOS)
ATI X1600 Pro AGP
C-media based sound card PCI
Realtek network card PCI
3x 512MB DDR333/400 (running at 333)
Windows XP SP2 fully patched
NVIdia chipset drivers
AMD processor driver installed
Normally I run BOINC and under 100% load all the time it can run stable
for days on end, no problem. It's an error I have not seen before, myself.
Previously I had a Newcastle 3200+ AMD cpu in there, and I did not seem
to have this problem. Unfortunately I no longer have that CPU so I'll
have to make do with the new one.
Any pointers to a possible cause, solution or workaround to this problem
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.
