Strange problem in Outlook running on a Terminal Server.

I have a user who accidently hit a button on his
advanced toolbar in Outlook that now makes him see his new
Email messages with Auto Preview. He doesn't want Auto
Preview on. Seems like a simple fix, right? Wrong. When
I switch back his preference to just Message he gets all
of the auto previews and then if I switch back to Message
with Auto Preview all of the previews dissappear except
when he gets new messages they appear with the preview
until he clicks on and then off of it and the preview goes
away. Why is this in reverse order??? No matter what I
do, it doesn't fix it. I'm stumped.

If this only affects this one user, then the problem is
most likely in this person't profile. Would it be
possible to give this person a new profile, or at least a
new ntuser.dat file? If not, then you might want to edit
their registry manually and delete the Outlook registry
entries to start from scratch.

If I edit his profile or give him a new one, won't he
lose all his settings? This is a managing partner. I
don't want to screw anything up.

Well, the regsitry typically holds settings, so yeah, this
user will most likely lose some settings. If you aren't
hip to losing anything like that, then why don't you get a
copy of his registry to see if you can reproduce this
problem with a test account. Play around with the test
users registry to see if you can find out where the
problem is. If you are able to fix it, then migrate the
fix out to the problem user's registry.
