whenever you are having trouble with toolbars in IE and Windows Explorer, it
is not that easy to fix. I was having trouble with when I checked, for
instance, the Links toolbar, the Address Bar would disappear.
This is not necessarily a virus but a simple bug.
the fix (I like to think I discovered) is this:
using regedit, do a search for the key "ItBarLayout" (without quotes)
you will find that key in a another key called "Toolbar". Underneath Toolbar
you will find two sub-keys, ShellBrowser and WebBrowser (nevermind those)
Just delete the parent key
HKUsers\S-1-xxxx-xxxx--xxxx-xxxx\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar
That's right! delete the whole damn thing. Rename it if you must. Reboot and
vwalah. Default Settings will be returned to normal.
Good luck and thanks for any help.

ps. you will have to do this a few times if more than one user are having
the same problem. but as always, back up your registry, blah blah blah, you
know the drill
<<<<i am customizing my toolbars for IE and Windows Explorer. here's the
problem. when i go to View---> Toolbars ---> Standard Buttons, Links,
Location Bar, etc.,
they are all mixed up. for instance, if I uncheck "Links" the Location Bar
disappears and vice versus. additionally there is a line with a check beside
it with no label AT ALL!
can i fix this stupid little issue?
thanks,
