You have malware. Ad-Aware and Windows Defender will not catch everything.
Help with malware:
All MS-MVP Sites.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Are you using any peer-to-peer file sharing software? Those are the biggest
source of spyware.

Adaware and Microsoft Defender are both provided by companies who have made
deals with Claria (owner of Gator - one of the worst spyware/adware/key
logging/password snatching packages I have come across). Don't expect
either one to provide real adware protection.

Most anti-spyware makers now are taking the attitude that if the spyware
creator simply tells them - the anti-spyware maker - that their software
requires the user to agree to a license agreement when installing, then it's
not really spyware.

The only thing that will protect you from spyware is your own Internet usage
habits. And that's not even a sure bet considering that even sites like
Amazon have been hacked and used for virus distribution.

The last I heard MS nixed the Claria thing.

Amen!

It's been years since I've had any spyware/malware problems. Besides,
I can mess up my system all by myself. I don't need outside help. ;-)

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

Unless I have been following the thread and had already read all of the
previous messages, therefore I am merely interested in the latest addition.
In that case, I would rather see the new stuff at the top of the window and
not have to scroll to the bottom of what may be dozens or hundreds of lines
of text which I have already read.

Also, if we consider that even though newsgroups are entirely public, the
real conversation which is taking place is primarily between the original
poster and the person(s) who is responding to the OP. Certainly, the OP
knows what he asked and has no need to re-read his own post (or scroll to
the bottom of it) simply to get to the response.

Why can't people just let this go? Besides, Bill Gates (otherwise known as
the "God of all things computing") seems to have decided that top-posting is
the way to go. If He had felt otherwise, it would be a simple thing to have
a reply window open with the cursor at the bottom of the window rather than
at the top. :)

If you use a proper newsreader that's exactly how it works.

I hear that Windows Mail now does it. I guess Billy Boy woke up.

WM defaults to top posting but you can change it in the Options.

They nixed the buyout. They did not nix the relationship and, as far as I
am aware, did not add Claria products back on their malware lists.
