When I shutdown my Win XP Pro SP2 (current on maintenance) system, in the
interval between when the desktop view goes off and is replaced by the blue
screen that says Windows is shutting down, a dark brown on white image
flashes on screen. It appears to be a silohuette of a person.

Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks

How old is the Monitor and do you have the latest Video card driver from the
Video card manufacturer?.
Does it appear in Safe Mode?.

Nass, the monitor is about 3 years old. All drivers - monitor and graphic
card - are current. I captured a jpeg pic of the image but don't know how
to, or even if I can, post it within a post here.

Hi Chip,
You can either send as an attachment if you are using an E-mail client on
your computer not the Usenet Like ME, then somebody using OE/Thunder...etc
can open it and have a look and give an insight.
Or you can host it on a website and send the link, there are many sites
provide this service.
Check your memory is okay:
You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots
