Strange Outbox Happenings

Running Outlook '03 - when I hit send button the message goes to the outbox.
If I then open the outbox the message icon automatically changes to the
"open icon" instead of the ready to mail icon. (The message will not send.)
I then open the message, edit (or not), hit send, the message goes back into
the outbox but the icon shows an open message and will not send. (If I open
an other folder and hit send the message go to the outbox and will transmit
upon hitting Send/Receive.) This issue only happens if I open the outbox
with a message(s) in the box. Otherwise I can send and receive as long as I
don't open the outbox. Weird.

Any thoughts?

Don't open the out-box?

You're joking right? Is this an MVP? That is hardly an appropriate answer
for an issue that seems to be a flaw.

What happens when you write/send a message and then realize the message
needed to be edited or a file attached? You have to open your Outbox and
open the message. Right? That edited message will not send. The icon
stays open in the Outbox. To have to cut and paste the original message
into an new email is ridiculous.

This is not a flaw. When you open the Outbox you open the email in it. Always check, read or edit as needed, then press the Send button again and it will work fine. Open emails are never sent.

Not so. The icons of messages in the Outbox show they are open when Outbox
is opened. The message themselves aren't open. I press the Send button on
the message the message closes but the icon stays as an open message in the
Outbox . The only way to work around this is to close the Outbox and then
hit the send button on the email. Outlook XP didn't do this and neither did
Outlook 2000. It absolutely a flaw with '03.
