Absolurely NOT !

We fight viruses here -- not spread them. Want to test ?

Obtain an EICAR Test File and/or create a honey pot.

Besides that, Hotmail scans for and cleans email now.

Agreed. Besides, no one uses live viruses to test anti-virus. The results
of such a test are not reliable. It's like pressing the Y button on your
keyboard to confirm that your keyboard is fully operational.

The eicar file most people use to test AV software can be downloaded from
www.eicar.com

No-one here will send you one.

If you want to test it create a honeypot by doing the follwowing.

1) Do a fresh install of Windows XP Pre SP2 and install your AV
software.
2) Make sure the firewall and windows update doesn't work.
3) Establish a direct connection to the internet. If you're using a
router, place the IP address of the honeypot into the DMZ.
4) Create an e-mail account (not hotmail/gmail etc as they use AV
software) and make many posts on usenet using that e-mail address.
5) open every single e-mail that gets sent to that address.

I am in no way agreeing that we should pass viruses here but about hotmail
scanning for viruses one can always zip it up with a password and there's
nothing any virus scanner can do then.

You mean besides block the content.

I've never had it block content from me. Well at least not yet. My friends
and I always password are files (some stupid myth we believe! That putting
a password in an archive helps avoid corruption when sending it through
email) Anyways, It hasn't happen to us yet. That's not to say it won't
happen in the future. The way everyone is getting tight on security I
wouldn't doubt it.

A decient virus scanner will scan the .exe file as it is being executed,if
your doesn't then get another one.
