Had a strange noise on the car recently and had it checked out today.
Turns out the wheel nuts were not tightened properly by a well known brake specialist.
When work was recently done on new front brake discs & pads!! And more dangerous the wheel could have come off!!!

The nuts were hand tight as i checked the other day & thinking the noise was the anti-roll device on the car as advised by the mechanic when i rang him last week, you just dont think that the wheel nuts have not been put on properly!!

The mechanic i use down in sussex refused any money as it was a 10 minute job to resolve by tightening up the wheel nuts, but a few bottles of wine will be with him shortly. Glad i had it looked at as i use the M25 daily!

So check your nuts weekly!:thumb:

Hi mate, I know exactly the noise you mean..
I test drove a car before I bought it off my uncle - pointed out the noise and he knew straight away what he had done (or not done), after doing something with the rear brakes.

He was so embarrassed and angry at himself, but no harm done..

When companies have this as their bread and butter though, it's kind of inexcusable!!
Did you follow it up with them at all? It might not have been a one-off from them! :(

Yes follow it up you may get a free puncture repair as a gesture of goodwill!

Ooooo Nasty, A company vehicle went in for a service a long time ago for a firm I was working for. Nuts were loose. Wheel came off on the M56 ad car went on a wobbler while he was doin 65ish.

He got out alive, car was written off!

Glad you found the problem before anything serious happened.

I prefer to do all my own work. Have been ripped off in the past by a garage who claimed they had to replace the disks on my car, when I asked for the old disks they shuffled around a bit and lots of ummm'ing. And there was nothing wrong with the disks, they didn't need replacing.
