Hello all,
I have a weird one here. I am running Windows XP Home
with SP1a.
I can get all my networking info (IP, Gateway, etc) via
DHCP just fine. I can also get to the internet and any
host off of my local subnet just fine.
I can Ping my local IP addres (10.0.1.20) and my loopback
address (127.0.0.1) just fine.
I can not ping any host on my local subnet. (e.g. My
gateway of 10.0.1.1)
What I have tried:
1) verifying th arp cache - Looks OK, I can see the MAC
address the gateway.
2) clearing the arp table - arp works OK, nodes that I
try to ping show up again
3) enabeling/disabeling the NIC - same result
4) re-loading the driver - same result
5) adding a new PCMCIA NIC - same behavior of the on
board NIC
6) Swapping switch ports - Same result
7) re-booting the LAN switch - no change
8) I tried the repair utility for the net controller in
device manager - no effect
9) I was going to un-install TCP/IP and re install the
protocol, but the un-install button is greyed out.
I have not had this problem for 1 1/2 years that I have
had this problem, it just popped up recently. Could this
be a virus?
