I am using windows xp professional and am trying to
connect to the Internet via an ADSL connection. The winxp
station connects to the broadband router via a wireless
lan interface.
I am not using a firewall (yet), I can connect to the
router and receive a IP number back via DHCP. I do get a
default gateway address and am able to ping to all
websites. DNS does also work.
WHAT DOES NOT WORK?
When I try to connect (via C:\>telnet www.yahoo.com 80) to
a HTTP server I get the following error message within
windows under the command prompt:
"Connecting To www.yahoo.com... Could not open connection
to the host, on port 80. The requested service provider
could not be loaded or initialized".
How can this mysterical problem be resolved?
I have tried to adjust the MTU size of the TCP packets by
using Dr. TCP, but without luck.
I wonder if I have to reinstall my PC or if there is a
solution to this issue.
Help is more than welcome.
