Computer Rick

This is on an Acer laptop and is the only device on the network with a
problem connecting.

When I attempt to map a drive (net use) I get "System Error 53 has
occurred". If I attempt to connect from the run box using the UNC OR IP I
get "The network path was not found".

Now the strange part: I can ping IP or UNC just fine.

I have Repaired Windows from a cd, reinstalled SP3, IE7 and made sure I had
the latest Realtek drivers for the nic.

Any suggestions besides a clean install?

Hi
Make sure that the Acer is on the same Workgroup as the other computers and
that sharing setting is configured correctly.
In general.
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.
