I am getting a messenger error about every two minutes -
I've removed it from my computer, rebooted, kicked the
blessed thing even! I emailed windows, but does anyone
have any suggestions? AND, I can see the icon in the
bottom right corner, but when I cursor down to open it,
it doesn't work??? SOS!!!

How did you remove it?

AFAICT there're two methods that *should* work:

i) Rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.remove

ii) Edit %SystemRoot%\INF\sysoc.inf as changing ",HIDE," to ",," in the
components section lets you remove those components just like any other
Windows components.

Personally I just neither allow incoming nor outgoing connections from or to
msmsgs.exe, disabled the icon on the task bar and that was that. Much easier
should I ever want or need it for any reason.

Cheers,
Juergen
