strange memory errors but chips okay

Hi group!

On one of my w2k boxes, I randomly get error messages like
"Memory at address 0x895923598 could not be read/written"
but running a memtest86 disk does not show any hardware
defects.. what could cause those?
Mostly they happen when starting IE (5.5) or any DirectX game.
I tried reinstalling IE and dX.. no change.
Please enlighten me...

I can't help you with your memory problem but may I suggest you have your
computer scanned at the microsoft updates page as you are very
"unprotected". V 5.5 is very vulnerable security wise.
