I just got a new Gateway system for Xmas. Of course, it came with XP
preinstalled. I disabled Outlook Express, downloaded fresh copies of
Opera and Agent and disabled MSIE.

Now I can't get access to my online checking account statement.
Same browser as my old HP / Win98SE system, right down to the build
number. Same ISP. Online banking still works from my old system, but
not from the new one. The only differences are the hardware and the
OS.

As a last resort, I tried using Microsoft Internet Exploiter, but the
bank's web form still won't accept my password.

Has anyone out there encountered this particular wierdness?

Hi Stephen,

How did you initially "disable" MSIE? Have you tried reinstalling it
properly? I suspect you used an IE removal tool (not a good idea). If so,
reinstall it by running the ie.inf file under %windir%\Inf.

I just told ZoneAlarm to deny it Internet access. With access
enabled, MSIE works normally, but that one form on that one site
doesn't work. After things restart in the new year, I plan to phone
the bank and fight my way through Voice Menu Hell and the Canyon of
Clueless Functionaries until I find someone who knows what is going
on.
