Strange : Intel Pro 3945ABG wireless NIC with vista ultimate

Hi i have vista ultimate with this adpator Intel Pro 3945ABG wireless
NIC.

i'm able to connect to a secure wireless network (wap) but i cannot
connect to a public unsecured network, could someone tell me why...

well our wireless network is made of 3com 2750 acces point uptodate
and they are manager with a wireless switch 3com wx4400.

i found this article on the net do you know about it.

and could thie be a reason...i have not tried yet
