A strange image has appeared on my desktop; I didn't put
it there. It's not an icon or shortcut. To describe its
visual aspect: It's like a square patch that's on the
screen, and it looks like leopard skin only the leopard is
red with brown spots. It doesn't go away if I change the
desktop background; nothing happens when I click on it; it
won't click and drag.I don't want it there and I can't get
rid of it! HELP!!!!

Hi Nancy,

Never heard of anything like that, however this is what I'd check:

1) Web items. Right-click the desktop, choose properties. Go to the desktop
tab, click "Customize Desktop", then look for any items enabled on the web
tab.

2) Look for name space items. Start/run regedit, expand the branches to this
location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Deskto
p\NameSpace

Look at the subkeys below this one. One of them may represent the unwanted
image. Deleting this subkey should remove it. What I would suggest you do is
export a copy of the key (click on it, then on file/export), then try
deleting a suspect key. If it's the wrong one, just double-click the
exported copy to put it back.
