Strange Icon in Control Panel

In my control panel, I have an Icon for a "CMI Audio Configuration Program". Inside the Icon it says "Xear 3D". I have no idea where it came from -- probably from a program I installed a long time ago and have since uninstalled. When I click on it, nothing opens. I find nothing when I search the hard disk and the registry for the keywords "CMI Audio" or "Xear", so there doesn't seem to be any files connected with it. I can create a shortcut to it on my desktop and search the properties of that shortcut, but it isn't very revealing. "Target" just says "CMI Audio Config". There is no target type or start-in location specified.

Does anyone know what this is? If I don't need it, I would like to get rid of it; but I don't know how.

Hi Gary,

CMI:

To remove:

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace

Or go to Search and type in: *.cpl
