About a week ago I downloaded a mpeg file and it came up and said I need to
download VLsoft-mplayer.exe
I did this and it still would not play.
So I put this on a side burner for later work.
A few hours later a pop came up on my screen from MacAfee Desktop firewall.
Said it was looking for the mpeg info for the video.
I allowed access once only. Didn't seem to change anything.
Next day same thing happened with McAfee, at this point I denied access.
Went looking for the program. Found it in my WINDOWS directory.
The minute I highlighted the file Norton Antivirus came up and said it was a
virus with the name TROJAN HORSE.
Norton could not quarantine or fix the file. So I deleted it.
Nothing seemed wrong with my system.......
BUT when I log onto the internet, my home page www.excite.com is screwy. No
pictures or backgrounds except ads show.
This is with IE 6 and also Mozilla 1.5 all other pages are ok just the
excite webpage
Logged into my homepage on another computer and all pictures and backgrounds
perfectly OK.
I am running the latest version of XP PRO SP1a
Also the latest versions of NORTON SYTEM WORKS and MacAfee firewall.
Ran virus scan on my whole computer with Norton even went online a scanned
with MacAfee online scanner. NOTHING
I thought I was safe... guess not.
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
Thanks in advance
