Forgive me if this sounds confusing, but I don't know of any other way to
describe it. I have never had anything like this happen before and it is
literally driving me out of my mind as I cannot access web pages I want
anymore. This is my first post. I have searched the Microsoft Knowledgebase
and not found anything like this listed.

When I open Internet Explorer and open a web page (almost any web page), I
get the requested page then without my doing anything, all sorts of strange
web page addresses start trying to load. The adddresses are ones I've never
used and they display at the bottom where it shows progress of pages
loading. At this pont I have no control over what happens. I cannot even
close the web page without resorting to CRTL/ALT/DEL and clicking on END
TASK. Sometimes other IE windows will open while all this is going on. They
are all adverisment pages. These 'extra' pages that have opened on their own
I can sometmes close.

I have tried scanning my computer using Windows Defender, Ad-Aware Se
Personal, cwshredder, Spybot Search and Destroy, and McAfee VirusScan.

HELP! I am at my wits end. If any of you can offer any assistance, I would
be most appreciative. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I wish I had a solution because the same thing is happening to me! When using IE6 I am now being redirected to another site --
affliliatetarget.com.
I have Emailed the site directly but the message came back undeliverable.
This problem occurs only when I am using IE6, not when I use Netscape. I have
deleted all my cookies and temporary web pages and the problem still
persists. Is there any way to locate the code and remove it or will even
removing IE6 in its entirety solve the problem
Until someone can give me a better fix, I did discover that by putting

I never heard of Affiliate.target etc, but it sounds like one of the "Phone
home" trojans or just a tracking cookie. I wouldn't keep it on my machine.
Now, emb: it sounds like you've gotten a boat load of spyware, adware and
trojans. A virus scan won't necessarily get 'em, and often the Ad-Aware and
Spybot search & destroy & windows Defender can corrupt your Mcafee, if not
themselves. They blew up my Panda virus scan program causing it to lock up
until it was tired, and the CPU was hot. I ended up wiping the disk clean,
reinstalling Windows XPHome & the Virus Scan the very next act. They tell me
not to use the other programs because they will corrupt my Panda (big&soft).
I have to admit when I look at the reports that it is getting all the stuff I
don't want.

'Hi. this otta cure you. Open your browser however it will open. Then type
the home page you want in the URL line. When that settles, Click "tools" in
the upper toolbar;next, click Internet Options. Notice that the top of the
first tab has 3 buttons:
-- use current;use default; &Use Blank. The blue line probably shows that
nasty url so here's how we go get you straight: Make sure you are on your
desired start page, if so, click 'USE CURRENT. Then close your browser. You
may have to reboot.
Hope to be helpful

You can also try going to www.spywareguide.com. They have an excellent
online spyware scanning tool that helped me get rid of a similar problem. I
found out I had a few of those "hijacking" spywares that redirect you to
their website, regardless of what web address you actually type in.
