Hi
When I animate an object I get a strange grid like a checkboard with a
slash in each square.
What is it and how can I remove it?
Thanks
Paul M

Hi Paul,

If feasible, please send the file to "(e-mail address removed)". I will check
and try to resolve your issue

anzdotsoft.com is a free service website for PPT users to solve basic
problems with PPT

Don't send the file to anyone, Paul, it's not necessary.

You can turn off the grid display -- or even turn off the actual grid (not
just its display) altogether. Where you find the Grid and Guides dialog box
depends on your version of PPT, which we need to know.

Or you can toggle the grid display on and off by hitting Shift+F9.

Very ocassionally people may invite you to send a sample of the problem -
this is rare and NOT the first response!

If Echo hasn't hit it on the head maybe you could post :

Your PPT version
Does the problem happen in show mode or edit?
Only when you animate?
What type of "object" is it?
Does the "grid" cover the whole screen?

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would feel they need to go off
list for their answers.
1. You have no idea if this site is accredited in anyway
2. You have no idea if this is one person or a couple
(I doubt it has the number of diverse experts that this newsgroup
does)
3. It requires users to register
4. The site is not open about any financial disclosures
5. If he truly does want to help users, then just post the answer in this
open peer review style community. I don't see why the wheel needs to be
re-invented.

Cool, thanks.

To get to the Grid and Guides dialog in PPT 2003, click the Draw button on
the Drawing Toolbar. Then choose Grid and Guides, and from there, you can
opt to uncheck "display grid." You can also turn it completely off there if
you want by turning off the "snap to grid" feature.

This is not the grid I am talking about. It covers the image only or text
box only this happenes when the fade option in the custom animation is used
and the object is in mid fade

Have you tried setting back the video acceleration on the display? I know
it sounds counter intuitive, but sometimes you get better results from less
acceleration.

Ah, sorry. I completely misread your question.

Try what Bill suggested with hardware acceleration.

Also make sure you're set to at least 32-bit display, not 16-bit or less.
