Folks -

On a newly setup HP machine, running XP-Pro, SP1, my user
is reporting the following problem.

They go to access a file on the floppy in a subdirectory
on the floppy (using Eudora 6.0.1.1).. they can access it
fine.

They go about their work, and later go to access another
file on another floppy in another subdirectory.

They can access that file - but XP has renamed the
subdirectory to the subdirectory name of the FIRST sub, on
the FIRST floppy.

I've checked this by taking the 2nd floppy to another
machine and reading it - and the subdirectory HAS been
renamed.

Aside from telling them to make certain the write protect
is in protect mode on the floppy - anyone have any ideas?

TIA..

Don

You might want to check that the saved file is NOT marked "read only" ... Check the
properties of the file.

Raji - I'm not sure exactly how this would effect anything.

The problem isn't files being written or not written, but
the directory the file is saved in being changed. In this
case - it wouldn't matter anyway since he's only READING
the files from the directory.

Puzzled about your answer..

My apologies....... I mis-read your post. I thought that the file names 'couldn't' be
changed....
