I sentan extended message to microsoft at 10;50pm
eastern standard time.I received a message back
from"admin", to inet receiver, subject bug report. I
dont know if that will help. Here is part of the
message. I have received and saved over 75 suspicious
messages fom Microsoft and many unfamiliar others.
These messages have attachments on them. I have opened
none of them Some are open when I get them. Im new on
computers and this is scaring me. Can you tell me what
is going on? Thank you Donald

Microsoft will never send you programs via email. Anything that you get like
that, is a virus. Do not run it - just delete it.

Guess it is time to buy Virus Software and to take a class in computers.
Check your local community college or other colleges in your area; many
offer classes for a nominal fee; some free to senior citizens etc. Another
possibility is locate a teenager or other adult in your local neighborhood;
perhaps one of them would be willing to teach you about computers and the
necessities needed to keep your computer safe from hackers and viruses.

Hi: Donald: I too have received a couple of the very
official looking Microsoft counterfeit e-mails
regarding "cumulative security patches" along with .gif
and .exe attachments for "install". Unfortunately I
suspect that because they are such authentic
looking "Microsoft" messages that some poor recipients
will in fact follow the instructions thereby installing
a "virus". It would be nice to have confirmation that
Microsoft is well aware of the current rash of "Microsoft
Counterfeit e-mails" and that they are making some
concerted effort on behalf of their Customers to remedy
the problem and at the same time keep us all informed with
some sort of public announcements. And finally, just the
fact that these newsgroups posts our e-mail addresses is
in itself a wonderful resource to assist malicious hackers
to target the public e-mails.
