Strange Cathedral Carving

Caught this carving on an exterior pillar of the Cathedral at Salamanca. It looks remarkably like an astronaut and, in fact, that is exactly what it is. The figure is about 9 inches tall and is part of a section of the pillar that has recently been restored.

For some strange reason it was decided to include the astronaut in amongst the usual religous figures.

That's a modern saint.

He be Saint Toby, offspring of Justin and Jessica, yuppies extrordinaire and children of the eighties.

Jessica has 'In Maggie we trust' tattooed on her left buttock and Justin is a stockbroker.
