Hi,

I have a question about some strange cables I got, and I want to know it I
can make anybody happy with them.

The cables have a standard network connector on one side.
The other side is a strange connector.
it is flat , about 3 cm wide and 1 cm high.
Written on top:
SP > PC < 5
UL
And on the bottom:
AT&T

Does anybody know what kind of cables these are ?
Can I throw them away or will anybody be very happy with them ?

Thanks,
Rob

"AT&T" may be the company it was made for; "UL" stands for
Underwriter Laboratories" meaning that the mzaterials are approved as
fire safe and may include electrical safety.
I would hazard a guess that the "5" stands for the number of wires in
the cable, the "PC" may stand for that it is for the PC, and the "SP"
may stand for serial port.
Maybe it is for firewire support?

Thanks for the reply. On one end it is a 'normal' RJ-45 network connector.
I have posted some nice pictures (almost art) here:

It does not look like a firewire cable.
More like a special network cable for a AT&T switch ?
Or for a special network connector on a mainframe or something.
An ISDN patch cable ?

I can't tell from the pictures but it might be an adapter cable designed
to derive an RJ45 connection directly from a punchdown block. (The
orientation of the conductors in the plug doesn't look appropriate for
a 66 block but might fit some datacomm punchdowns, perhaps in modular
connectors.)

Thanks, I think this might be the right, but the conductors are indeed in
the wrong orrientation.
