Strange Boot-up Message

Jack

Fairly recently, just about every time I boot my XP
system, now (Gateway Pent.III, etc.), I receive the
following error message:

Windows cannot find 'copy'. Make sure you typed the
name correctly, and then try again. To search for
a file, click the Start button and then click search.

I just click the OK button, and everything seems to work
fine -- including the general Edit/Copy command used in
various programs.

I'm beginning to suspect that this might be a leftover
from some viruses I just finished purging from my system.
Or, I might have a corrupted Windows file somewhere. I've
searched the system for a "copy" file with no luck.

What do I do now?

Thanks for any help you can offer on this.

Greetings

1. Open Regedit by going to Start>>Run and then typing regedit.

2. Then do a find for "winshow" When any key is found, delete it by
pressing the delete key. Be sure to hit the F3 (Find Next) key after
each. There are about 10 or so that need to be find. Regedit will say
"Finished Searching" when complete.

3. Repeat the same step above, but this time search for "winlink"

4. After that is done, close regedit.

5. You will then have to search for the the .dll files stored on the
harddrive. Go to search for files at c: Then search for "winshow" and
"winlink" Delete any files that you find. (Im my case I did not find
any files named winlink)

6. Restart the computer

Thanks for your help on this. I thought I'd gotten rid of
that damn thing, but evidently not. May the programmers
that wrote it and the marketers that pushed it roast in
hell.

(Well, maybe that's a bit strong. But, then again...)
