Strange boot message - no drives

After a period of two weeks, while I was trying to get a response from Asus
about an apparently dead mobo, and not using main 'puter, I boot
satisfactorily, having found the prob, and find message at end of boot
sequence "not found any disks - please wait". Bios does show all "disks"
(drives) and boot up to windows proceeds normally. How to persuade bios to
be content and silent about disks?
American Megatrends 2.58, bios date 8/8/06. TIA for any insights.

Power off pc,remove battery, clear the CMOS by moving CMOS jumper pin from
1-2 to 2-3 for .45 seconds or so,then back to 1-2,replace battery,start pc.

Thanks, Andrew. I paused the boot sequence long enough to read the whole
message. There's a copyright note for Marvell. Inc. Somehow, gremlins active
I guess, the marvell thing became activated in BIOS. I'll look there.
Marvell, whatever it is, is apparently supplied by Asus, not MS.

If there is a copyright note referring to Marvell, then it refers
to the SATA drivers that need to be installed for this particular
ASUS motherboard. What type of hard drives is being used? SATA on
the SATA connectors or IDE on the red IDE-like connector? If the
latter, it might be necessary to download the correct Marvell drivers
from the ASUS website.

Thanks GHalleck, am not using SATA. EIDE drive on the primary ide connector.
I don't understand your reference to "the *red* ide-like connector". What is
that? Blue on my Asus.
I'll wait for your clarification before going to bios setup to try to
obliterate Marvell. The - thing - (Marvell-ous) is looking for something
(sata) that I've not claimed to be present.

What is the ASUS motherboard? Some of the more recent ones comes
with just a primary IDE connection and it should be colored blue.
There may be a second IDE connector that is driven by the SATA
drivers. In the P5WD2E's, for example, it should be orange-red in
color. This is probably what GHalleck was referencing.

Asus M2V <Green> Yes, blue connector. There was or somehow came to be an
enabled option for Marvell in BIOS. I dissed that and now no more Marvell
messages. Thanks for your input.

Glad it got sorted. I like to believe that Asus, sometimes, is too
conservative in its bios settings and defaults items which the user
might not have installed into the computer. If this motherboard does
not have the Marvell IDE headers, then the bios may be referencing
the SATA-RAID connectors. These, presumably, are enabled by default
in the bios setup by Asus.
