Hi,
yesterday i had a very bad experience that i never had before. my harddisk
took some irreversible damage from a unexpected power failure. the disk had
been totally damaged except some parts that i was able
to recover including the operating system partition (os is xp-pro).
I was able to copy the whole os partition on a external drive after i had to
replace the controller with a new one. But the disk wont work as expected
and i had to buy a new disk.
i lost nearly everything due the disk was no more accessible, except the os
partition. i had to re-create the disk structure (on new disk) and i moved
the rescued
system on it, prepared it for a boot-up and let the thing run. it was not as
easy as i described it
here. i got so many bsod's
u wont belive
but after the (recovered) system started everything seemed to be ok, except,
some drivers and services are not able to start. and something strange
happended to my
security subsystem i think. when i want to start some of the services, they
just wont and there
are no more error codes, only the hint of some missing dependency on other
services
or something like that. Some Applications say that i need to enter a admin
password to start them and they even dont start after i used my admin
account with full admin
permissions.
everything is a bit slower and some application icons cant be shown...
i checked my permissions and security settings, everything seems to be ok.
This must be something deeper inside the system...
the disk structure is exactly the same as on the dead system, everthing is
the same, execept the new harddisk's size and model (vendor)?
I re-installed the sp2 on the (old) system and problems are still the same
System Starts without any error.............but something with my security
subsystem seems to be different i guess...
What is that, .... any suggestions?
Best Regards
