Just about any firewall will do this, or you can use the command prompt or
Start | Run and utilize "netstat -a" (without the quotes).

This sounds like a problem I had once. It turns out a trojan had infected
my comp and everytime I dialed up, constant traffic was outbound from my
connection. Do you run anti-virus and spyware engines? If not and your
problem persists:

Download AVG or Avast and update the virus definitions. In addition to
this, download Macaffee Stinger at http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ As well,
download Adaware and Spybot S&D too and update thier signatures. Try
http://www.pricelessware.org/ or
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html to get this software. Turn
off system restore if you have it initiated.(You will lose all restore
points.) Boot to safemode - I do not know your OS - so I will leave this to
you. In safe mode run the anti-virus, stinger, adaware, and spybot. Reboot
and scan again with adaware and the antivirus engine in normal mode. If
this does not fix it you can:

1) Try a dedicated trojan scanner here -
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/trojanscan.asp - Its an online
scanner that requires IE 5.0 or later and active x activated; OR (I will
get in trouble for this...) download the trial version of TDS-3 here:
http://www.diamondcs.com.au/?hop=supportale - This fixed my problem as
most of the antivirus and trojan tools I had tried could not eradicate my
particular trojan. TDS is the Rambo of all trojan engines.

OR

2) Download Hijack This from here:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html and post the results in
the alt.comp.virus group. There are many good eyes there that might spot
your nasty for you.

Please excuse me if you have tried some of the above already and I hope you
find the source of your problem. Take it easy...

Hi old,

You sound like you have a trojan.

Go to www.trendmicro.com and run the free scan.

Thanks all for the help, Process Patrol helped , it turned out to be that
bloody MSN Messenger that the wife has on her computer, I don't know what
it was sending but after a few days it added up to nealy 200meg I got rid
of messenger and now all is fine, I have our computers networked and
share a dialup connection and now she can just email the couple she has
been chatting to, NO MORE MSN Messenger.
Once again Thank you to all.

oldfart.
