Storyboard puts video clips onto audio line only

I've used WMM for over 2 years and suddenly am having a problem: When I
click and drag a video clip on the storyboard it automatically sticks it on
the audio line--it will NOT let me drag it and put it elsewhere on the video
line. I tried replacing my mouse, wondering if it was stuck scrolling down
or something, but I don't know what else to do. I am pretty computer
illiterate. I have wmm version 2.1.4026.0

I'm in the middle of a huge project and I can't continue unless I get this
fixed.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

I read that link, but my video files are in avi format, and I've been working
with them for weeks now and it is just suddenly that wmm will only move them
to the audio line, even when they are already on the video line and playing
just fine. It is as if I can't move anything within the video line--anytime
I try to drag a clip to create a fade with the previous clip or to move the
clip elsewhere in the video line it just drops it down to the audio line.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm going crazy!

Could I reload the wmm somehow? I already tried to restore my system to the
settings from a couple of days ago before this started happening but that
didn't work.

Thanks for any help.

Maybe the project is too complex.
