STORE PHOTOS ON HARD DRIVE IN TIFF ?

I read you should store photo in TIFF no matter what you
use to take picture ex.jpeg. This way the file is the
best you can use no matter what you are going to do with
pic. you can change copy any way you want to from this.
But I can't find a way to do this.

True, many professionals recommend that
archival copies be saved in the .tif format.
It's been my experience that .jpg is adequate
....especially if you *never* edit your originals.

I save my unedited originals on CD-Rs and
do my editing, resizing, projects, etc with
copies.

You can use IrfanView to do a batch format
conversion. Or, if you want to do them one at
a time you can use MSPaint.

Start / All Programs / Accessories / Paint.

Be aware that .tif files are much larger than
..jpg files and will take up lots of hard drive
space. Example...I just saved a 657KB .jpg
as a .tif and the resulting file is 6.71MB.

You may want to consider burning your
archival .tif images on CD-Rs.

What you are reading is correct but out of date. The digital world moves
fast. Today, if you have something like a 3 Megapixels camera there is no
need to save in the TIFF format. Save in jpg and use your jpg file for
editing, No problem. You will never see the difference.
Only two important things:
1. When you have your jpg on your hard drive, copy them to a CD so you will
have a back up. A lot more important than converting your jpg to tif.
2. NEVER edit a jpg file. Always make a copy of it and edit the copy.
