Stopping the start up programs

Dear all,

When I start up my pc it is very very slow...85% of the CPU can be used as
all sorts of assorted junk boots up along with windows. All I want is
Norton and Windows. There is a way of seeing what programs autostart
(startmenu/ programs does not work) and turning them off but I do noit have
the command line.

Any help much appreciated,

Hi Danny

From Start>Run type in "msconfig" - without the quotes - Startup tab. You can uncheck any programs there that you don't want running when Windows starts. You can then delete the disabled items with the following:

Line 148 - right hand side
