Stopping sound in 2003

I narrate during the table of contents and multiple choice quiz slides. My
narration is a sound file (.wav), inserted to start playing automatically.
Problem is, my narration does not stop when students click on their choices -
such as the hyperlink to the custom show on the table of contents slide,
which is the lesson they want to watch, or their answers during the quizzes.
What happens is they hear two different sound files playing at the same time,
because the first one does not stop after they click, and the next sound file
(such as the intro to the lesson or the next quiz question) starts. My sound
file settings are set to stop on click. Anyone know how to fix this in
PowerPoint 2003?

Still hearing both narrations at the same time, as I am unable to figure out
how to set the transition sounds to "Stop Previous Sound". Is this a feature
in 2003?

Mr. Wilson, once again you are my hero! Thank you. After setting the sound
on my table of contents to be a transition sound, rather than inserted, then
on each lesson's intro slide, chose the transition to stop previous sound, it
worked!! I still have the problem of when the students click their answers
