Stopping programs from auto starting on boot up

I get several programs that automatically start when I restart the compter.
One is the media player, one is just the explore files. How do I stop them
from doing that? I've looked and looked to no avail

Begin with

Start --> Run

msconfig

Startup tab.

Once you locate where they startup from, act accordingly.

For Win2000, a freeware program (actually "donationware") called
"Startup Inspector for Windows" should do what you want nicely. I
use it in XP but it should work in 2K as well. Check it out below...
