Is there any way to limit the # of pop ups while on the
internet by changing the settings on my computer. I have
windows xp.

You may stop the Popup ads by disabling the Messenger service [click start -
run, type services.msc, right click the messenger service, click properties
and select disabled from startup type. ]

Also, try to download and use SPYBOT, ADAWARE from www.download.com

The good advice alreay given will prevent two sources of
popup. However more frequent popups arise from webpages
you surf to. A pop up blocker can prevent most of those -
there are many available, and I suggest the simplest is
to use Google's here:

You could also use a browser that features native pop-up blocking. I
like to use Mozilla Firebird, a wonderful browser IMHO.
